Why the new Instagram changes affect a lot of fashion-based businesses - Part 2

It´s getting harder for all of us on Instagram with every change…

Instagram just announced a change to their Account Disable Policy on July 18. (Click for more information)

Today, we are announcing a change to our account disable policy. Together with Facebook, we develop policies to ensure Instagram is a supportive place for everyone. These changes will help us quickly detect and remove accounts that repeatedly violate our policies. Our existing policy, we disable accounts that have a certain percentage of violating content. We are now rolling out a new policy where, in addition to removing accounts with a certain percentage of violating content, we will also remove accounts with a certain number of violations within a window of time. Similarly to how policies are enforced on Facebook, this change will allow us to enforce our policies more consistently and hold people accountable for what they post on Instagram.

Sure Instagram should be a safe and supportive place for everyone. And the fact that everyone can now appeal under their new notification process - is a big step into the right direction.

We are also introducing a new notification process to help people understand if their account is at risk of being disabled. This notification will also offer the opportunity to appeal content deleted.

But here´s another thing. Before that, no one could appeal when a picture was removed, because someone went on a reporting spree. So if you had pictures removed in the future, because they were reported for “nudity” for example - you still have a violation record on your account. I mean the fact that they say there are records on every account is crazy enough. I mean WTF.

And right after they announced the new policy - several accounts I know are shadowbanned now - and no one got a picture deleted.

So it seems like the AI of their new policy is banning accounts from being seen - even when the last picture they´ve got deleted was several months ago.

I´m affected by this since over 2 weeks - all my post are hidden from search results and hashtags - even my own hashtags. I didn´t get a notification or anything else. I was just wondering why my reach dropped again. I wrote several messages to Instagram and reported this issue. But no answer. As usual.

As I already explained in this article (Click for more information) - Instagram started demonting inappropriate content even if it´s not violating the Community Guidelines. I can’t understand it though, because why hiding content, when it’s not against the guidelines? Why getting restricted when you didn’t do anything wrong?

So if you are wondering, that your reach dropped again and you gain barely followers. That´s the reason why.

I hope they´re going to fix this shit asap. Because this can truly ruin a business.
