Why every Creative should have a website

throughout the last 2 years i noticed that a lot of instagram accounts got hacked and i thought it´s more than appropriate to bring up this old blog post of me again.

it doesn´t matter if you´re a photographer, stylist, make-up artist, designer, or other creative business owner. don´t rely only on social media platforms, like instagram or facebook.

lately, i saw it often that a lot of creatives only have their social media profiles to show their work.

of course, these platforms are amazing and easy to handle to spread your work to the world, to connect with customers, likeminded people, and to network.

but think about what would happen if your account got deleted or hacked . or these platforms would be closed. all your work would be gone, and no one would know how to contact you because this was your only online appearance.

you don´t need an extraordinary website with lots of pages. Just some essential pages like

  • a SUMMARY of your best work - show people what makes you different from others and why they should hire you

  • an ABOUT ME page - tell your audience and potential customers where you come from, who you have worked with already, how you gained your knowledge etc.

  • a CONTACT page - your customers need something to contact you, for example ask for your prices or leave some kind words because they like your work so much

  • of course, don´t forget to tell them on which social media platforms they can find you - mention your website on all your social media profiles too - it´s a necessity to be found easily in both ways

I highly recommend squarespace or format if you don´t have one.

don´t forget:

make sure to use your logo on all your online appearances and try to use the same username (if it isn’t used by someone else already). means use the same logo and name on your social media accounts and your website, so everyone sees immediately that this is your account and not someone else.

i know this is just a glimpse of the whole thing. i´m planning on writing more about these topics.

if you need help or if you have questions, please don´t hesitate to ask or leave a comment.
